Under the motto BETWEEN TRADITION AND MULTIMEDIA LIFE and under the patronage of UNICEF in Stuttgart, the American Indian Film Institute and Festival in San Francisco as well as the International Aboriginal Film Festival DreamSpeakers in Edmonton, Canada, INDIANER INUIT: Das Nordamerika Filmfestival (4) will take place from January 19-22, 2012 at Treffpunkt Rotebühlplatz (VHS Stuttgart). It is the first and only of its kind in Europe. After a great start in 2004 it is held every 2 years. INDIANER INUIT: Das Nordamerika Filmfestival is based on the cooperation of the Volkshochschule (Community College), the Linden-Museum (National Museum of Ethnology), the James Byrnes Institute – all located in Stuttgart – and the University of Konstanz. The overall artistic direction is provided by Gunter Lange – Media Arts Cultural Events.
The team is thrilled to welcome Radmilla Cody to the 2012 festival. The Arizona resident and former Miss Navajo is an outstanding individual who works as a singer, model, human rights activist and UNICEF representative. Already before the official start of the film festival Radmilla Cody will give a concert at the Wannersaal of the Linden-Museum in Stuttgart on Wednesday, January 18, at 7:30 pm.
Another highlight of the INDIANER INUIT film festival 2012 is the participation of Dennis Banks (Anishinabe), co-founder of the American Indian Movement (AIM).
The official opening of the film festival with international guests will take place on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 7:00 pm at Treffpunkt Rotebühlplatz (VHS Stuttgart). INDIANER INUIT: Das Nordamerika Filmfestival will open with the award winning film documentary Hearing Radmilla, by U.S. director Angela Webb, who has confirmed her participation in the festival.
The festival is seen as a form of international understanding and cultural dialogue. In addition to cinema it offers viewers the opportunity to personally meet the indigenous filmmakers and to discuss their work with them. Film screenings for school classes, cultural programs and educational training are important components of the festival. Media centers will receive recommendations for rental films of high educational value, which are ideal for use in the classroom. It already emerges that the festival with increasing popularity will attract even more people from all over Europe. This unique film and cultural event underlines the character of Stuttgart as a cosmopolitan, internationally interwoven and inter-cultural trendsetting city.

Mit Radmilla Cody, ehemalige Miss Navajo, Sängerin, Model, Menschenrechtsaktivistin und Unicef-Repräsentantin, erwartet das Filmfestivalteam eine ganz außergewöhnliche Persönlichkeit aus Arizona, USA. Radmilla Cody wird bereits vor dem offiziellen Start des Filmfestivals am Mittwoch, 18. Januar um 19.30 Uhr ein Konzert im Wannersaal des Stuttgarter Linden-Museums geben.

Die offizielle Eröffnung des Filmfestivals mit internationalen Gästen ist am Donnerstag, 19. Januar um 19.00 Uhr im Treffpunkt Rotebühlplatz der vhs Stuttgart. Mit der international ausgezeichneten Filmdokumentation Hearing Radmilla, der US-amerikanischen Regisseurin Angela Webb, die ihre Teilnahme am Festival zugesagt hat, wird INDIANER INUIT: Das Nordamerika Filmfestival eröffnet.
Das Festival versteht sich als Form der Völkerverständigung und des Kulturdialogs. Es bietet den Zuschauern neben der Filmkunst die Möglichkeit, die geladenen indigenen Filmschaffenden persönlich kennenzulernen und mit ihnen zu diskutieren. Filmvorstellungen für Schulklassen, Kulturprogramme und pädagogische Fortbildungen sind wichtige Bestandteile des Festivals. Pädagogisch wertvolle Filme, die sich zum Einsatz im Unterricht anbieten, werden den Medienzentralen zum Verleih vorgeschlagen. Es zeichnet sich bereits ab, dass das Festival mit wachsendem Bekanntheitsgrad noch mehr Interessierte aus ganz Europa anzieht. Diese einzigartige Film- und Kulturveranstaltung unterstreicht den Charakter Stuttgarts als weltoffene, international verflochtene und interkulturell wegweisende Stadt.

The NAAoG e.V. hosted its annual seminar for members close to Zweibrücken (Germany) this year. The topics were stereotypes, misunderstandings and different point of views. Our speaker was NAAoG vive-chairman Joe Hobay, Kiowa from Oklahoma. We will publish a report.

Die NAAoG e.V. veranstaltete ihr Seminar für Mitglieder dieses Jahr in der Nähe von Zweibrücken. Die Themen waren Klischeevorstellungen, Missverständnisse und unterschiedliche Ansichten. Unser Referent war unser 2. Vorsitzender Joe Hobay, Kiowa aus Oklahoma.
